UK Parliament Trip
During our trip to the UK Parliament, we joined a guided tour that took us through the historic rooms, each with its own story and significance. We learned about the House of Commons, the center of debate and lawmaking, with its recognizable green benches. It’s where elected MPs represent their constituencies and shape the nation’s laws. On the other hand, the House of Lords, with its elegant red benches and ornate decor, serves as a chamber for reviewing legislation and hosting ceremonial events. The contrast between the two chambers highlights their unique roles in the UK's legislative process.
What surprised us the most was the realization that the House of Commons chamber was much smaller than we had imagined. On television, it appears much larger and more imposing, but standing there in person, we were struck by how compact it actually is. This unexpected discovery sparked conversations about how media shapes our perceptions versus the reality of being in the space.
The visit gave us a memorable glimpse into the workings of British politics and left us with a deeper understanding of these iconic institutions
